Kerouac Festival `03 is on Saturday October 18th, 2003.
We will be reading the entirety of Jack Kerouac's classic novel On The Road.
The reading will take place in the Grand Midway Hotel's [Windber, PA] original bar room,
where miners once reveled after excruciating shifts digging coal from deep within the earth.
We will be supplying free coffee all day long, as well as live improv jazz.
The reading begins at noon sharp, and will last into the evening. Bring enthusiasm. Dress warm.

Special guest of honor Baird Bryant, early Beat writer, photographer,
and independent film maker, will be joining us from California.
Baird lived in Paris in the 1950's at the "Beat Hotel",
sharing experiences with legendary greats like
William Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Chet Baker, Alan Ginsberg, and even Kerouac himself.
Baird will be our first reader.

Kerouac Festival `03 is the brainchild of film-makers Blair Murphy and Marshall Rubin
(pictured above on their young man adventures, salmon fishing on the Bering Sea, Alaska).
After fifteen years in Los Angeles, Blair recently purchased the Grand Midway Hotel in Windber, PA.
Marshall, visiting the Hotel after a long road trip from his New York City home, suggested the event.
